Tens of Millions of Americans are fluent in a language other than English.

For such individuals, gaining access to the best in Hollywood entertainment has often been a frustrating and relegating experience. If they exist at all, separate, subtitled screenings of some of Hollywood’s biggest films not only add a frustrating layer of complexity onto what should be a seamless and immediate cinematic experience, but also have the unfortunate side-effect of segregating non-English speaking audiences from their English speaking counterparts.

Not anymore.

Thankfully, in today’s connected world, relying on the outdated method of projecting subtitles onto the big screen is no longer necessary. With TheaterEars, a Spanish speaker can sit comfortably in a theatre next to his English speaking friends as they all enjoy the same screening together in their own respective languages. Sound impossible? On the contrary, it’s ingeniously simple.

TheaterEars is a mobile app that utilizes Hollywood-produced audio tracks in languages other than English (e.g. Spanish) to unlock the biggest Hollywood releases for non-English speakers. Users simply download a given film’s audio track in their chosen language to their mobile devices via the app, and then make their way to the theater. Once in the auditorium, TheaterEars automatically syncs the audio track to the film in real time, allowing the user to sit back, relax, and enjoy the show – as it unfolds in their chosen language!
